For quite a while now my work week goes something like this. Work, come home and yell at my daughter to do her homework while she ignores me, make dinner, and then do all the stuff to get the kids to bed. In the time between getting home from work and yelling at my daughter about her homework I typically have 30 to 45 minutes of somewhat free time. For the last couple of months this free time was spent playing a bit of Minecraft while my son tried to grab my mouse or some other distraction. Now everything has to change, since I need to stop yelling at my daughter about her homework and get her to sit down and actually do it. So i came up with a plan!
While I would love to sit down and play Civilization Beyond Earth and let her waste her time until i have to cook dinner I figured I would take the time to do some Warhammer 40k stuff. Yesterday, my daughter finished her homework in record time as I sat across the kitchen table from her and assembled some Space Wolves. Hey if this works I may actually get some painting done at some point. I will most definitely get everything assembled if she cannot learn to focus on her homework a bit more.
So it looks like i may be getting some hobby time for a while. Probably better than playing video games anyhow.
